Action needed to improve cycle track

4.55.42pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 11th Jun 2007

Cllr Anne Purse is asking at the next County Council for the cycletrack from Sandhills to Wheatley to be consistently maintained. Also in her motion she asks the Cabinet to work with Oxford Brookes University to upgrade this cycle route, thereby encouraging the use of cycles instead of the private car and so helping the sustainability of the Wheatley Campus.

Anne said, "There are a lot of people who use this cycle track. It has recently been cleared in the worst places, but if there is debris etc on the track it does deter people from using it as no-one wants to get a puncture. If more students cycled to Brookes University, there would be less car parking in Wheatley and Holton. The track is not really up to current standards, and should be wider."
